ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jerome J. Pinckney
Jerome “Jerry” Pinckney was born in humble surroundings in Savannah, Georgia. He grew up in a modest middle-income family during that time. His father was an Army Captain, and the family soon moved north to New York City, which was a complete culture shock for him due to his Southern upbringing.
As a child, he always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Around the age of 14, he sold bags of boiled and parched peanuts along with pecans, shined shoes at local barbershops, created and sold Mother’s Day roses, ran a sidewalk candy stand, made palms for Palm Sunday, sold garden seeds, and delivered newspapers.
